Introducing our Concept Artist Scholarship

In our work to support young creatives, we at Ubisoft Massive are proud to present a new initiative in partnership with Ung Svensk Form (Young Swedish Design). Through our new Concept Artist Scholarship, we hope to open up new ways of expressing and exploring creative design and bridging physical and digital spaces.

“Swedish design is incredibly exciting, and it’s amazing to be entrusted with putting the spotlight on new, young talents through our partnership with Ung Svensk Form,” says David Polfeldt, Massive Entertainment’s MD.

For a long time, Massive have explored the limitations and opportunities of interactive media, and our partnership with Ung Svensk Form gives us the possibility to take this ambition to a whole new level.

It’s an opportunity to explore the space between physical and digital, with our game worlds acting as a foundation for innovation of design and fashion.

With craftsmanship as one of our core values, the Concept Artist Scholarship is a testament to our belief in innovation and the creative process. Supporting young creative professionals in the beginning of their careers is an important pillar in the continued evolvement of the Swedish design identity and part of what we believe in at Massive.

It’s also an opportunity to explore the space between physical and digital, with our game worlds acting as a foundation for innovation of design and fashion.

HISTORICAL MOMENT

”Through our collaboration with Massive, we are building a bridge between the physical environment and the digital world where anything is possible,” says Mats Widbom, MD of Svensk Form.

Our collaboration with Massive is a big and historical moment in Ung Svensk Form’s 22-year long history.

Ung Svensk Form is a platform for young designers with the goal to share knowledge and raise awareness about new, innovative Swedish design. Ung Svensk Form is open to young designers working in Sweden and Swedish designers residing and working outside of Sweden, and acts as a bridge between the student life and work life. Massive’s partnership with Ung Svensk Form is long-term, initially set for three years.

“Our collaboration with Massive is a big and historical moment in Ung Svensk Form’s 22-year long history. We can now test and challenge the design world even more, with new strength and energy,” says Karin Wiberg, Project Manager Ung Svensk Form.

“For a long time, we have seen that young designers in Sweden not only have a great sense of different materials and world class craftsmanship, but also ask important questions in a courageous, innovative, and intelligent way. Now we have an additional strong driving force to encourage them thanks to Massive’s new scholarship.”

EXPERIMENT WITH THE BOUNDARIES

The Concept Artist Scholarship is a six-month paid internship with focus on fashion, items and skins in our game productions. The receiver of the Concept Artist Scholarship will be featured in Ung Svensk Form’s exhibition, which will tour Sweden and other countries, and be awarded on stage in a ceremony at the opening of Ung Svensk Form during Stockholm Design Week.

“By offering this scholarship to a young, creative designer, we hope to experiment with the boundaries of what art, fashion, industrial design, or games really are,” says David Polfeldt.
