Ever since our beginnings in 1997, Massive Entertainment – a Ubisoft Studio has delivered groundbreaking video game experiences. Based in Malmö, Sweden, we have released classic and award-winning games such as Ground Control and World in Conflict and played a major role in games such as Far Cry 3 and Assassin’s Creed Revelations.
In 2008, Massive joined the Ubisoft family, and in 2016, we released the AAA game Tom Clancy’s The Division. The game quickly became the fastest selling game in Ubisoft history and the fastest selling new franchise of the year. The sequel, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, came out in 2018, followed by the expansion Warlords of New York. The franchise has now attracted more than 40 million players worldwide.
Currently, we are leading the development of a new game set on the beautiful and dangerous moon from James Cameron’s prominent Avatar film franchise, and early 2021, it was announced that Massive is collaborating with Disney and Lucasfilm Games on a new story-driven, open-world video game set in the beloved Star Wars galaxy.
But we are not only working with game projects, but also tech. Our powerful, cutting-edge game engine Snowdrop has powered games such as The Division franchise, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle and South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Massive is also the home base of Ubisoft Connect, Ubisoft’s digital ecosystem and distribution platform.
The studio’s goal has always been – and still is – to craft the finest gaming experiences for all players.
