Lead UI Artist

Job Description

You will be a key-player in developing the artistic style of the Avatar projects UI. Help to recruit, lead and develop a team of UI artists, whilst working collaberatively with the wider production team

This is a permanent position based in Malmö, Sweden, and requires working onsite.



  • Drive UI Art for the Avatar project and in accordance with the project's artistic direction;
  • Act as a hiring manager to recruit highly skilled talents for the UI Art team and the studio;
  • Prioritize, plan and organize own and teams work, in conjunction with the Associate Producer;
  • Develop performance and expertise within the UI Art team while furthering own knowledge;
  • Identify and set up best practices, work-flows and pipelines;
  • Conduct appropriate ad-hoc tasks as and when required.



Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent Graphic Design skills (e.g. Design, layout and typography)
  • Awareness of current trends in visual communication is essential
  • Good understanding of Motion Graphics
  • Familiarity with data management software (such as Perforce) is desirable
  • Excellent working knowledge of industry standard 2D graphics applications (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, After Effects etc.)
  • Knowledge of the video game industry and awareness of typical video game development processes is desirable
  • Exposure to industry game engines, design toolsets and production pipelines is desirable

Relevant Experience

  • Previous management experience / team leadership and mentoring is desirable
  • Previous experience of working in the games industry or studio an advantage but not essential
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphics Design, Art or other relevant training
  • Experience with 3D applications (e.g. Maya, 3DS Max etc.) is advantageous
  • Proficiency in scripting (e.g. ActionScript, Python etc.) is advantageous
