LIVING IN MALMÖ
Malmö is located in the south of Sweden. It is Sweden’s third largest city, but still a fairly small town with its 300,000 inhabitants. But your are not in risk of cabin fever, the proximity to Copenhagen, a mere half hour train ride away, makes the actual metro area considerably larger with over 2.5 million people.
Metropolitans would hold the closeness to our neighboring Danish city as the number one reason to live in Malmö. But Malmö is equally appealing to the out-doorsy types. The city even has its own sand beaches, and the beautiful diverse nature of Skåne is just around the corner for you to explore.
It is is a multicultural city with over 170 nationalities represented, which is evident at Möllevångstorget, an outdoor market where you can find produce and groceries from all over the world. Speaking of food, Malmö has something for everyone: Michelin-starred restaurants or falafel stands; steak house or vegan café. And yeah, Malmö is Sweden’s first Fairtrade city!
Being a very compact and flat city, it is very easy to get around, and the 490 km of bicycle paths make it perfect for bicycling.
For those of you who still want to get out of here once in a while, Copenhagen Airport is only a 17 minutes train ride away. Being the biggest airport in Scandinavia it will take you anywhere you want. You can reach Paris or London in just under two hours.
