Play Testing
We at Ubisoft Massive strongly believe that our customers deserve the best. To ensure this, we conduct vigorous play tests both internally and externally. If you are interested in helping us make our games better through participation in such tests at our studio in Malmö, Sweden, please register here.
Who is eligible to sign-up?
Anyone with an interest in video games is welcome to sign-up. Please note that we take the PEGI (Pan-European Games Information) ratings very seriously and that all participants will test age-appropriate games only. Persons under the age of 18 need written consent from their legal guardians. For tests held at the office, we prefer people living in the proximity of Malmö, which means most of Skåne and the Copenhagen area in Denmark.
What are the benefits / reimbursements of being a participant?
The benefits / reimbursement of volunteering are different depending on the degree of involvement and the time spent testing.
When are the sessions?
Each session is different, depending upon the stage of development of the game being tested. Most in house sessions last around 1-2,5 hours and take place during the afternoons or evenings, Monday through Thursday, but there are exceptions. Online sessions usually involve answering questions sent by email and usually take 15 minutes to half an hour. Please note that registering to be in the database is not a commitment to a particular session. We will contact you when an appropriate session comes up, and give you all the details. You always will have the option to say no if the session doesn't fit your schedule or interest.
Where do the sessions take place?
Sessions are usually conducted either via email or held at the Massive office in down-town Malmö. The office is located near Gustav Adolfs torg, a mere 10 minute walk from the central train station.
How often can I participate?
This depends on what tests you have previously attended.
Can I bring a friend?
We always encourage signing up your friends for testing, but they are normally not allowed to participate in the same session as you.
Are there any special requirements for testers?
Besides being gaming enthusiasts who want to help shape the future of games, all testers are asked to sign a standard non-disclosure agreement when coming in for the first visit. The main purpose of the agreement is to give voluntary consent and to protect Massive proprietary information. Our competitors are not allowed to participate in these tests.
What should I do if I've signed-up but have an emergency?
Please be courteous by informing us with as much advance notice as possible if you have an unexpected change in your schedule, so we can find a substitute. Participants who do not cancel an appointment in advance risk being removed from our tester database.
What about Alpha and Beta tests?
Alpha and Beta tests are separate from these play tests. They will there for be handled in a different way. Additional details on such tests would be released independently of the regular game tests.
